Well friends, we’ve had one heck of a season. This time last year, we never could have guessed in our wildest dreams that we’d have to cancel our Spring Festival, and that we’d go cashless in our Austin Fall Festival & Pumpkin Patch.
But Texans are made of tough stuff, and both the farm and our community have pulled together to get through a wild year.
This weekend, November 14th and 15th, we’ll host the final two days of our 2020 Fall Festival, and we have a few special treats in store! Read on to learn what you can expect from a visit to the farm, and what we’re working on for you in the spring.
The Last Weekend of the Fall Festival
There are just two days left to explore the farm and all that it has to offer. Take the opportunity this weekend to get outside and enjoy the fresh air before the craziness of the holiday season kicks off!
Tour the pumpkin patch and take plenty of fall photos to share with your family and friends. Solve Austin’s coolest corn maze — a 3.5-acre labyrinth dedicated to a pup named Scooby-Doo!
Grab a local Oktoberfest beer or a dry cider from Austin Eastciders, and lounge in the biergarten. Take the kiddos to Huck’s Fishing Pond to angle their first fish, and send an apple soaring with the apple cannons. Hayrides, archery, farm animals, and the Wilbarger Willage Tree Fort let kids and parents spend a day of learning and play.
And when you get hungry, enjoy a burger made with all-natural beef patties, or some hand-dipped chicken tenders at one of our many food stands.
We also have a couple special activities this weekend, included in your ticket purchase!
Family Movie Night (Saturday Only)
On Saturday, November 14th, we’ll be hosting a family movie night to cap off the day. Bring a blanket or folding chairs, and spread out for a screening of Scooby-Doo: The Movie at about 5:45pm.
Flashlight Maze (Saturday Only)
Take a spooky nighttime tour of the Scooby-Doo Maze by flashlight! Explore all the twists and turns in the dark of night for a whole new way to see the corn. Remember to bring your own flashlight!
The Flashlight Maze will begin at 5:45pm on Saturday, and close at 7:00pm.
Saturday Food Stand Schedule
Because of the time change, our food stands will be closing at the following times on Saturday:
- The Smokehouse Grill, Friar’s, and Willage Hut when the movie starts.
- Barton Hugel Apfelwein & Biergarten will close at 6:00pm
- Johnny’s Pizza will close at 6:30pm
- Stage Hut will stay open until 7:15pm, with kettle corn, bottled water, and “La Vida” Frozen Sangria for purchase .
Please note that due to the time change, all other activities will close at sunset (about 5:30pm).
Pumpkin Smash (Saturday and Sunday)
Have you ever wondered what a pumpkin patch does with any leftover pumpkins?
We smash them and feed them to the piggies! Want to help?
From 12:00pm to 5:30pm on Saturday and Sunday, join us for the annual year-end pumpkin smash. We’ll have bats on hand for whacking. Have a little fun smashing pumpkins to your heart’s content! (Is that where the band name came from?? Maybe they grew up on a pumpkin farm…)
We hope that you’ll join us for the last weekend of our 2020 season. Get your tickets here!
Coming Soon at Barton Hill Farms…
Now that we’ve been through one COVID season, we feel confident that our Spring Festival will be as fun as ever. We’ve already planted 40,000 strawberry plants and over 1,000 bluebonnets, so you can expect a fruitful and colorful March and April!
We’ll be hard at work over the winter, adding more fun activities and good food and keeping our farm animals healthy and cozy.
Wildflowers, berries, games, activities, and plenty of food and drink will be here waiting for you in the spring.
Opt Outside
Even though our events are ending for the season, we hope you’ll continue to get outside and get plenty of fresh air over the winter months. Our lives may look different than they did at the start of the year, but there’s always solace and peace to be found in nature.
Go for a hike, make a day trip to a state park or nearby town, or simply take a walk around your neighborhood. Staying active and exploring your own backyard will help you to stay physically and mentally fit as the pandemic runs its course.
And if you haven’t yet, make sure to join our email list! We’ll continue to send you occasional updates on our progress at the farm, plus announcements for the 2021 Spring Festival.
