The Austin Spring Festival is almost here! April 17th and 18th will be the first time we’ve had visitors on the farm since the Fall Festival & Pumpkin Patch, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you all back.
With Texas opening back up and the warm spring weather upon us, it feels like we’re emerging from a long hibernation. To celebrate, we’ll have more fun and entertainment than ever before at this year’s event. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the activities and live performances you can expect on opening weekend!
April 17th & 18th Daily Shows
Mobile Dairy Classroom
Every day throughout the entire festival, we’ll be hosting the Southwest Dairy Farmers’ Association’s Mobile Dairy Classroom. The instructor will demonstrate how to milk a cow, and share fun nutritional facts about dairy. This all-ages, educational show takes place around their mobile trailer that lets them bring a dairy cow right to the farm!
Pistol Packin’ Paula
For opening weekend, you’ll have a rip-roaring good time with Pistol Packin’ Paula! This world-champion gun-slinger will be twirlin’ and whirlin’ her pistols and cracking her whip on anyone who isn’t having fun (figuratively!)
Paula was featured on America’s Got Talent back in 2013 and almost gave Howard Stern and Nick Cannon heart attacks. Get a sneak peak!
Live Music
As recently minted members of the Texas Country Music Association, we wouldn’t be doing our part without live music every day! We’ll have bands and musical acts starting at 2:00 PM in the Barton Hugel Apfelwein & Biergarten both Saturday and Sunday of opening weekend — and every weekend after that.
On Saturday, April 17th, we’ll have country music singer/songwriter and guitar player Kayla Outlaw singing us some of her original tunes. She has a voice like an angel and we can’t wait to have her! On Sunday, April 18th, we’re bringing the bluegrass with the Hot Pickin’ 57s. This quartet of bass, violin, guitar, and banjo will get your toes tapping while you sip on a local beer or cider on the banks of the Colorado River.
Activities and Games
Every weekend of the Austin Spring Festival will offer fun and games. Try your hand at the apple cannons and see how far you can chuck a Red Delicious. Go fishing at our catch-and-release fishing pond, or get the kiddo’s face painted as a mermaid, dragon, or their favorite superhero.
Go for a bounce on the Texas Jumbo Jumping Pillow, and ride the Bee Train or the Texas Hayride! Channel your inner Robin Hood, Hawkeye, or Katniss Everdeen at the archery course, and check out the farm animals like cattle, goats, sheep, chickens, and two sassy mini horses!
Finally, visit the U-Pick Flower Fields to collect a bundle of zinnias, cosmos, lupines, and sunflowers to take home with you when you leave. With over 30 family-friendly activities, you’ll never get bored!
Dine and Drink
When you get hungry this weekend, we’ve got you covered. Hand-dipped chicken tenders, pizzas, and burgers with 100% all-natural beef are on the menu at Barton Hill Farms! We also have snacks like french fries, and kettle corn. Everything on the menu at BHF is free of high-fructose corn syrup.
To drink, get a glass of fresh lemonade, or enjoy a cold local beer or cider in the 21+ biergarten. We also have domestic beers and our famous “La Vida” Frozen Sangria Slush at some of the other food stands. Icy, sweet, and refreshing.
Get Your Tickets!
Presale tickets for the Austin Spring Festival are still available! Get your tickets before 11:59 PM on Wednesday, April 14th to save $4 per ticket on your entry. Remember that no tickets will be sold at the gate! All tickets must be purchased in advance for the day you wish to attend the festival.
Coming with a group? Check out our semi-private cabana rentals where you and your friends can have your own shaded place to gather, eat, and chat during your adventure on the farm.
