A Message from Farmers about the COVID-19 Outbreak
Out here in the country….
….we tend to talk a little slower, take things in stride, and do our best to enjoy the sweeter things in life.
As our family farm welcomes another beautiful spring season we are, as part of a larger community, seeing unprecedented circumstances surrounding this new virus.
In response, we previously delayed our Spring Festival & Strawberry Patch by two weeks and cancelled our scheduled staff training in order to ensure additional safety measures were being observed. We even explored alternative styles of operation to allow visitors to Barton Hill Farms to enjoy our Strawberry Patch and the large, open air spaces that we offer.
After much discussion with our local officials and in consideration of our staff and customers, we made the tough decision to close our farm to the public until the Fall. Given the circumstances, all pre-season ticket purchases were refunded to customers.
In 2015, Barton Hill Farms experienced massive flooding of the Colorado River that completely shut down operations the week before Halloween. But we came back stronger and more prepared than ever!
We are certain that this AMazEing accomplishment came about by enlisting the grittiness and resilience of our family and committed staff. It is from our loyal customers that we find the strength to keep on-keeping on with our truly special family events. In our hearts and minds, Bastrop is a phoenix community. And it just so happens that we exist with one of the world’s most fascinating cities nearby…
We are forever grateful for your support, and we want to say thank you! We will see y’all in the Fall!
Please do continue to support small businesses in our local area and around the Great State of Texas. Subscribe to our newsletter to keep up with Barton Hill Farms News on events!

Ring in the Season with us at the Spring Festival!
Just 30 miles from downtown Austin, a day at the Spring Festival is the perfect way to break free of the “Austin city limits” from March through mid-April. We welcome all ages here at the farm, from the littlest babies to grandma and grandpa. Bring the whole crew!
Pick Your Own Strawberries!
Our U-Pick Strawberry Field is full of row after row of ripe Seascape and Albion strawberries, easy for little hands to pluck from the plant. With a total of 28,000 strawberry plants this year, we hope to have plenty for everyone!
Please note: strawberry crops are dictated by the weather. While we hope to have a bountiful harvest, we can’t guarantee the volume of berries that we’ll have on the farm.
There’s plenty to do on the farm beyond picking strawberries! Stop by our beautiful fields full of brightly-colored zinnias for photos with the whole family.
Kids can enjoy games and activities like:
- Going for a bounce on the Texas Jumbo Jumping Pillow.
- Trying their hand at archery
- Feeding the farm animals in the “Texas Pasture”
- Riding the Bee Train
- Taking a Texas Hayride
- Testing their skills at shooting hoops in The Competitive Ball Zone
- Racing around the “Farmula One” Trike Track
- Shooting down the Super Slides
- Playing yard games like tether ball, corn hole, and washers
- Climbing and sliding on the Wilbarger Willage Texas-sized Tree Fort
Face Painting and Catch & Release Fishing at “Huck’s Fishing Pond” will also be available for an extra fee.
Plus, you can’t be this close to Austin’s legendary live music scene and not provide a show! We’ll have live music every day on the TX Live Music Stage. Dancing encouraged, for young and old.
And when you’re worn out from all that activity, lay out a blanket and relax, watching the Colorado River flow by.
With so many things to do, the whole family can enjoy strawberry season at the Austin Strawberry Festival.
Lunch on the Farm
Picking berries and playing outside is hungry work. So we have plenty of solid summery fare to keep the family full. Pizza, burgers, hotdogs, and pulled pork sandwiches are available for purchase at the pavilion. Drinks include Lavelle’s Lemonade, frozen lemonade slushes, tea, soda, and water. And for the adults, we have local beer, wine, and our ultra-refreshing frozen sangria slush.
Guests are welcome to bring in outside food, but no coolers or cooler bags, please! Food must not require refrigeration, or you can leave a cooler in the car and pick up your food items when you’re ready to eat.
Our goal is to provide a friendly, welcoming place where the whole family can enjoy the outdoors. Our spring and fall events are a great chance for visitors to take in the beautiful weather and Texas sunshine that makes our farm grow. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Austin or Bastrop, come celebrate spring out on the family farm!
