The 10th Annual Fall Festival, Pumpkin Patch, & Corn Maze at Barton Hill Farms is just around the corner. For some, the Fall Festival is part of their annual traditions. For others, this will be their first time getting the BHF experience. And after a decade of building and planning, we think this is going to be our best year yet!
Here are 10 reasons why a day on the farm should be at the top of your fall bucket list!
1. Connect with Friends in the Great Outdoors
Getting tired of doing the same old things when you get together with your crew? A trip out to Barton Hill Farms gives you a way to connect with your friends and enjoy the outdoors, but in a totally fresh environment.
Pro tip: Looking for a first date spot? Movies don’t give you a chance to talk, and bars are so overdone. Take your date out to BHF to show them that you’re up for an adventure. Battle it out at the apple cannons, and then share a frozen sangria to celebrate. 😉
2. Make Happy Family Memories for a Healthier Future
A family trip to the farm isn’t just about the fun on a single day (although that’s important, too!). It’s also about making memories that will impact who your children become as they grow. In fact, research shows that happy memories from childhood actually lead to adults with lower depression, fewer health problems, and better personal relationships.
Visiting the Fall Festival, Pumpkin Patch, and Corn Maze has become an annual tradition for many locals. It’s a place to take fall photos and bond as a family. And it can become part of your child’s formative memories.
3. Join in Fun Activities for All Ages
There’s so much to do at the farm for visitors of all ages! Kids can go for a ride on the Bee Train, expend some energy on the Texas Jumbo Jumping Pillows, and climb the Wilbarger Village Texas-sized Tree Fort.
Adults can engage in some friendly rivalry at the Ball Zone, Archery Corner, and the Apple Cannons. Plus, the whole family can take a ride on the Texas Hayride out to the animal pasture to see some of our livestock pals.
4. Relax in the Biergarten
The Barton Hugel Apfelwein & Biergarten is the place to spend a relaxing hour (or two). Kick back under the shade and take in the views of the sleepy Colorado River.
We’ve remodeled an old sno-cone trailer into a draft beer trailer serving great local brews! This year, we’ll have:
- Kolsch from Altstadt Brewery (Fredericksburg, TX)
- Blood Orange Cider from Austin Eastciders (Austin, TX)
- Oktoberfest from Whitestone Brewery (Cedar Park)
- Rotating local IPA
Plus, the biergarten’s live music stage will host exceptional live music from Austin area artists
5. Rent a Semi-Private Cabana
Our four semi-private cabanas give groups of up to 10 guests a place to gather and unwind during their visit. These spaces are available for birthday parties, large families, and even small company parties.
With your own shaded spot, you can converge for a delicious meal, gift opening, or even a special announcement (like a gender reveal!).
6. Bring Home a Jolly Pumpkin and Colorful Zinnias
Our flower fields will also be in bloom this fall, with colorful zinnias and cheerful sunflowers right behind the pumpkin patch. So you can cut a dozen stems to take home alongside your pumpkins.
7. Solve Our Biggest Corn Maze Ever!
10 years of Fall Festivals means 10 years of corn mazes. And we’ve pulled out all the stops for this major milestone.
Do512 called it “The Most Scenic Pumpkin Patch in Texas,” and we have to agree. Browse hundreds of plump and carvable pumpkins on the banks of the Colorado River. Pick the perfect one for your fall decor!
This year’s Hey Elon! corn maze is our biggest yet, at a whopping 5 acres. It even has two bridges inside. The maze was designed to welcome our new neighbor Elon Musk and his innovative companies to the Austin and Bastrop areas. Wander through a SpaceX spaceship, Boring Company tunnel, Tesla Cybertruck, and a Starlink satellite while answering passport questions and learning a bit about these inventive technologies.
8. Meet the Farm Animals
Barton Hill Farms is a working farm, which means we’ve got plenty of animal friends to help us out. Our Boer goats and Dorper sheep snack away to keep the weeds under control (and they looooove it). Chickens scratch up the bugs and help to fertilize the pasture. Llamas and cattle graze, which keeps them healthy and keeps the grass in tip-top shape. We also have Red Wattle pigs and miniature ponies!
While Barton Hill Farms isn’t a petting zoo, it is a great place to get close to farm animals and foster an appreciation for Texas livestock.
9. Enjoy Live Entertainment & Education
We’ll have live entertainment and education out on the farm throughout the Fall Festival!
We plan to have live music most days at the stage in the biergarten, featuring acts from the greater Austin area. We’ll also be welcoming the Southwest Dairy Farmers’ Dairy Cow Classroom this fall. This educational event is all about the nutritional value of milk and what it’s like to be a dairy farmer.
Pistol Packin’ Paula will be on the farm on select Saturdays, bringing her world champion gun spinning show. Plus, the Tri City Flyers are coming on October 2nd and 3rd to fly their model planes all over the farm. We’ve put in a miniature runway just for the occasion!
10. Play Safe!
We’re all eager for connection with our friends and families. But crowds still make some people wary. With 118-acres of land and a massive event area, there’s plenty of space at Barton Hill Farms for everyone to get together—without getting too close, if that’s their preference.
While we encourage masks when you’re unable to distance (like in lines for food), the farm makes it easy to spread out for a fun and safe experience.
