The Austin Spring Festival at Barton Hill Farms is just a month away!
We’re so excited to welcome you and your family and friends to the farm for a day of nature, education, and thousands upon thousands of bright, cheerful spring flowers.
After February’s deep freeze, we weren’t sure what the spring was going to look like. While we still have some of our original strawberries, we didn’t know if enough would survive for all of our visitors. But our phenomenal team pulled together, and we hustled to plant over 40 different varieties of quick blooming, beautiful flowers for you and your family to enjoy!
Join us on weekends from April 17th through May 31st to play games, catch a show or two, have a feast, and pick a bouquet to bring home from the Austin Spring Festival!
A Zillion Zinnias, Scads of Sunflowers!
We have planted and transplanted over 7 million flowers (yes, MILLION) in preparation for this year’s festival. Expect to see elongated clusters of lupine, daisy-like cosmos, pretty poppies, and loads of zinnias and sunflowers, ready to be cut and taken home.
We’ve carefully staggered our planting and transplantation schedule, so there will be flowers in fresh bloom through the entire festival.
A day outdoors in the Austin sun, cutting fresh flowers by the banks of the Colorado River? Sounds pretty idyllic.
Catch a Show While You’re Here
This year, we’ll be offering more entertainment than ever before!
We’ve partnered with the Southwest Dairy Farmers Association to bring you The Milk Cow Classroom every day of the festival. They’ll be teaching us about the nutritional value of milk and where it comes from. Plus, we’ll get a live presentation of how to milk a cow.*
Milk Cow Classroom Hours
- 11:00am
- 1:00pm
- 3:00pm
- 5:00pm
Each afternoon, we’ll also have a variety of rotating shows to keep you on the edge of your hay bale! We’ve invited animal acts, old west gun twirlers, trick ropers, an Old West gun show, and more to share their talents with us.
Finally, we’ll have acoustic performances in the Barton Hugel Apfelwein & Biergarten every afternoon. Grab a local beer or cider and sit in the shade, serenaded by some of the Austin area’s best musicians.
Fun and Games
As always on the farm, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. Go for a jump on the Texas Jumbo Jumping Pillow, or practice your archery. Ride the Bee Train or the Texas Hayride, and get your face painted as your favorite fairytale creature.
Plus apple cannons, catch-and-release fishing, giant superslides, and more!
Come Hungry, Because We’ve Got Good Eats!
There will be seven food and drink stands on the farm this year, offering plenty of food and cold drinks. Hand-dipped chicken tenders, all-natural Barton Hill Farms beef burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, and sweets to keep you fueled up during your adventure.
Cool off with lemonade or iced tea, or a frozen sangria slush. In the adults-only Biergarten, look for local craft beer and cider to enjoy under the shade.
Semi-Private Cabanas
Semi-private cabanas are back! Book a rental when you purchase your tickets to have a home base for the morning or afternoon. These half-day rentals include exclusive access to your 12’ x 14’ cabana, plus an uncovered firepit area where you can make s’mores.
Safety First
As always, the safety of our guests and staff is our higher priority, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. We ask that guests maintain a 6’ distance from other parties. And when you are in line or cannot otherwise keep that distance, we require that all guests wear masks.
Just like our Fall Festival, the Spring Festival will be cashless to provide a better guest experience and keep guests and team members safe.
See You On the Farm!
We’re looking forward to a fun and friendly spring season, and we can’t wait for you to stop and smell the zinnias out on the farm.
All tickets for the Austin Spring Festival at Barton Hill Farms must be purchased online for the day you plan to attend the festival. Presale tickets will be available on March 30th. Sign up for our email newsletter to get updates like festival news, ticket sales, and more!
