In the meantime, we’re spending a little time thinking about the past, and getting excited about the future!

10 Years on the Farm

We’ve been taking care of our little corner of Texas since 2012. That makes this the 10th year of Barton Hill Farms.

Back then, our 100+ acres on the banks of the Colorado River were bare and open, ready to be molded into something special. But what to do with all this beautiful land? We envisioned an outdoor space where friends and family could spend a day without screens or city stress. A place where they could play games and learn a bit at the same time.

We spent much of those first 10 years building up our events and attractions. We started with the Wilbarger Village Tree Fort, adding fun new activities each and every year. If you looked at a picture of the farm in 2012 compared to one now, you wouldn’t be able to tell that it’s the same place!

Each year, we’ve had a new corn maze design to excite our visitors. From our first “Go Horns” maze to 2018’s “Off the See the Wizard” to 2020’s “Where Are You Scooby-Doo,” the corn maze reveals have been one of our favorite parts of the Austin Fall Festival.

A major flood in 2015 set us back a bit, but farmers are nothing if not resilient. When the waters receded, we got right back to work, fixing the damage and making the farm better than ever.

And it’s not just the farm that’s changed. Bastrop itself is in the middle of a boom. If you take TX-130 during your trip to the farm, you’ll pass the site of the upcoming Tesla Gigafactory. A new 550-acre film studio development is in the works about 10 miles from us. And closer still, Elon Musk’s Boring Company has just purchased 73 acres of land just off Hwy 71. With all this development, it feels like Barton Hill Farms and Bastrop are both undergoing big changes. We’re excited to see where this growth takes us all over the next ten years!

But for the moment, let’s explore a bit about the farm this fall.

Play Safe!

With the pandemic still a factor, gathering outside is the safest way to get together with family and friends. Our acres upon acres of open air let you get close to the people you love while keeping a bit of space from other groups.

Guests are encouraged to wear masks when they can’t maintain distance, like when they’re in line for food and drinks. Our staff will be wearing masks at all times. We’ll also be conducting daily temperature checks on our team, and doing extra cleaning and sanitation.

To keep lines moving, we’ll be continuing with our Cashless policy this fall. All food, drinks, and extra events can be purchased with credit or debit card, or with digital wallets like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. If you bring cash, you can use it to load a gift card for use on the farm. Any leftover funds on the card can be refunded to you when you’re ready to leave!

Sitting Pretty on the Farm

This may be the prettiest season yet at the most scenic pumpkin patch in Texas. Not only will we have hundreds upon hundreds of pumpkins, but we’ve also been busy planting hundreds of trees and shrubs over the summer. We’re looking forward to the coming years as they get big and lush. The hops in the biergarten are also climbing their supports, creating an oasis of shady greenery.

Plus, we’ll have bright, cheerful sunflowers and zinnias to pick this year. The flower fields will make a beautiful backdrop to the pumpkin patch, and we think your fall photos will be some of the best yet.

There will be more details about the 2021 Fall Festival, Pumpkin Patch, and Corn Maze at Barton Hill Farms coming soon! Look for discounted pre-sale tickets, the corn maze reveal, and lots more news in the next few weeks.
